"Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not
arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not
irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong doing, but
rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all
things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never dies."
~ The Bible, Corinthians 13
Looking back at the many troubled times in our lives, there is
one precious thing that has always opened the doorway to higher
understanding. This is openly and unconditionally giving and
receiving the energy of love. Love is one of those intangible
states that we tend to categorize, label as a certain thing, and
put into a box. Yet, love cannot be contained or even defined by
words. Sure we can come close to it and create great poetry that
points towards love, yet it always falls short of the perpetual
expansive experience of love.
With love all things are possible. The energy of love is the only
thing you need to solve every problem you have. The moment you start
trusting the expansive magic of love is the pivotal day when
everything will completely change for you. If you think you
are too poor, busy, lost or frustrated to trust love, you are
simply making up excuses to hide another day in your imagined
smallness. Let love guide you. Don't have any ideas about
what it is or what it is not. Just feel what love is like in
your body and heart, and you will always find your way.
Below are 4 simple steps to give and receive love more effectively:
1. Make the commitment to remaining open.
The first step in giving and receiving love effectively is to make
the commitment to being open to love. Love is the most powerful
energy in this Universe, so to master it is to master your experience
of the Universe. Let your heart simply be open, as if it were as
vast as the infinite Universe that surrounds us. When you are met
with difficult people and situations, relax your body and open your
heart completely. Eventually, with enough relaxation, a soft gentle
feeling of lightness and love will come pouring in. Remember one
thing, that you cannot get hurt in any relationship or situation if
your heart truly remains permanently open.
2. Drown your ego in loving thoughts.
The more you love and accept yourself exactly as you are, the more
you attract love from others and manifest loving, empowering, and
abundant situations to you. The vibration of love is hugely magnetic.
When you let your ego drown in self-loving affirmations, beliefs,
ideas and fantasies, this energy will soon permeate every cell in
your body. Eventually these loving ideas will make you into a
"love-magnet" allowing you to realize that you are simply the Source
of love itself.
3. Let go of any limited ideas about love.
The belief that you can only love and be loved by one person is one
of the greatest limiting thoughts society has "hypnotized" us to
believe about love. Trash this thought immediately and understand
one simple thing: That the more you practice sharing love with others,
the more love you will have to give to yourself and that one special
person. Love has this amazing "snowball effect" where it becomes
bigger, the more that it's used. Let go of that ridiculous fear of
hurting someone because you started loving everyone. Whomever gets
hurt simply has a closed heart and has not yet connected to the
infinite supply of love inside them. When you become an example
for how to be a living source of love, they see how alive, vibrant,
and full of joy you are. Then, one day they too will choose to
follow you along the path of unlimited love.
4. Consciously Choose Love No Matter What.
Yes, the ego is often tempted to play its old games of blaming and
judging others for not giving it what it thinks it wants. Blessedly,
you can always choose love even when your ego wants to go off into
limiting thinking and contracted feeling states. Every time you notice
yourself entering that contracted zone, just focus on opening up your
heart and sending out the vibration of love. Think about one thing
that you love, like your dog, the mountains, the sun, your child,
etc... Feel how much you truly love this person or thing. This
will get your love engines started again, and soon the energy of
love will naturally overwhelm any contracted old ways of being.
Practice choosing to respond to all situations with love, and soon
you will be bathing in the magic of this energy all day long.

How often do you cry uncle at the first sign of flying monkeys
even though you are the one wearing the ruby slippers? You
are the one easing down the yellow brick road of life, yet
you allow others to determine your worth. "But Oz never did
give nothing to the Tin Man that he didnt, didnt already
have" and you have the ability at anytime to click your heels
and find your way home.
The home that is sacred and holy and deserves to be treated
with real respect and appreciation, because this home is YOU,
and YOU are a divine, loving, beautiful, worthy spirit, you
are the Emerald City and you are your own Oz. You dont let
a little water melt you into nothing, no way, you send those
flying monkeys packing because you remember the "where" that
is "over the rainbow" is within you and it is LOVE!

Our Breath and our emotions are unavoidably connected. It is such
a simple thing, and so easily taken for granted. Often we do not
notice our breathing while we are in an emotion. Whether it be
an upset, grief, anger, joy, or intense laughter, our breath
has a direct relationship to the emotion.
Emotions are essentially, energy in motion. They are waves of
energy moving through our bodies, that we have labeled and
identified as various feelings.
As we breathe connectedly, our breath will uncover suppressed
emotions and release the blocked emotional energy. Sometimes we
have suppressed our sadness and we need to cry. Sometimes we have
been too serious, suppressing our joy, and we need to laugh.
The important thing to remember, when it comes to Conscious
Breathing and emotions, is to keep breathing connectedly as
we move through the emotional energy.
Ironically, most people hold their breath to avoid feeling an
unwanted emotion. But as soon as we start to hold our breath,
we have capped off our experience, and remain stuck or suppressed
in the emotion, perpetuating it even longer.
Have you ever been so angry that you stopped breathing? The kind
of 'arms crossed, stopped speaking, nothing but 'glaring' angry?
Are you breathing in that moment? Most likely not!
We hold our breath when we are angry because we are resisting a
situation we do not like. By holding our breath, we unconsciously
think we are putting the unwanted experience at bay. We are
suppressing it, because we think that is safer.
But suppressed emotional energies hang out in the body, causing
all kinds of disease and havoc. Suppressed emotions dominate our
thoughts, our activities, our self-image and world-image, our
choices, and our behaviors, usually without us even knowing it,
until they are met with our Breath, and our conscious, loving
awareness.
Many people feel overwhelmed by their emotions. But Conscious
Breathing offers a way to be with them, and let the energy move
without forever feeling consumed by them. Conscious Breathing
allows the life force energy to flow through the body and 'unclog'
any suppressed emotions.
Think of it this way; when we describe someone who has been
emotionally hurt, and is harboring it, we describe them as being
hardened, shut down, closed off, or disconnected. By avoiding the
emotional pain, or by hanging onto it, this person has temporarily
locked themselves into that emotional state. Breathing can open
this up. Conscious Breathing - Rebirthing opens the floodgates,
and lets the waters of life move.
Breath Awareness Practice
1. Notice your breathing while you are having an emotion.
2. It's that simple. -Notice your breathing while you are
having an emotion.
3. When you notice you are holding your breath, take a deep
breath. It may feel impossible at times, but you can do it.
---- breathe ---
4. So that you do not have a difficult time remembering, write
the word 'breathe' on post-it notes, and stick them in areas of
your living space that you frequently see.
---- breathe ---
5. Observe your experience. What emotions are you feeling when
it is hardest to breathe? What emotional state are you in when
you can breathe more freely?
~Enjoy!

Rebirthing & Immortality
with Leonard Orr
Friday, November 30th, 7:30-9 PM
Fee: $30
I AM Books
315 Main St.
Huntington, NY 11743
(631) 271-LOVE (5683)
Leonard Orr will speak on the subject of Physical Immortality
and Rebirthing Breathwork, a safe, gentle and powerful healing
technique. The breathing in Rebirthing Breathwork involves one
continuous circular movement, connecting the inhaled breath to
the exhaled breath in a relaxed rhythm without any pauses. It is
the most powerful form of prana yoga. Not only can it release your
birth trauma, but it can clear all your conscious and subconscious
emotional, physical and negative beliefs on a cellular level. This
gives you more clarity, increased divine energy, better health,
and an overall sense of well being and happiness. It can also
reverse the aging process. The breath is a portal to heaven.
Leonard will also sign his book, Breaking the Death Habit: The Story
of Everlasting Life, and if available, the recently reprinted,
Rebirthing in the New Age, which he co-wrote with Sondra Ray.
Leonard Orr is the founder of Rebirthing Breathwork. His original
intent was to become a minister; however over the next 12 years a
series of what he describes as "spiritual accidents" led to his
discovery of rebirthing. In 1974, he started rebirthing other people
and in 1975 he founded the first training centers for rebirthers in
Walton. VA and Sierra Nevada, CA. Since that time, rebirthing has
spread all over the world and over 100,000 rebirthers have been
trained.
"Leonard Orr is one of the founding fathers of contemporary
spirituality and modern holistic thought
.. Hundreds of thousands
of people worldwide have utilized rebirthing as a tool of
reconnecting with their authentic selves. This is a rare
opportunity to hear the insights of a true American yogi."

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the
beach with the LORD. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one
belonging to him, and the other to the LORD.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back
at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the
path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also
noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times
in his life.
This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it:
"LORD, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk
with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me."
The LORD replied: "My son, my precious child, I love you and I
would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I
carried you."
Dear Reader,
Got Soy? You bet you do. Check some labels in your kitchen
cabinet. Unless you go out of your way to avoid soy
products you'll find soybean oil, soy lecithin, soy
flour, and soy protein isolate hidden in all kinds of
processed foods - sausage, bread, candy, cereal.a full
list could easily fill this entire e-Alert.
But are any of these products actually good for you? An
HSI member named John writes: "Have heard conflicting reports
on soy - ONLY fermented versions Miso, Tempeh, Natto are
beneficial or ALL soy based food products are helpful (I would
think if the latter is true only Organic based soy products
would qualify)."
When it comes to soy, don't expect to find much in the way of
organic. Most of the soy produced in the U.S. is grown by agri-
business giants like Archer Daniels Midland and Monsanto. And well
over half of the soy produced in the U.S. is also genetically modified.
But John is on the right track with "fermented versions." When
it comes to soy, fermented is the only way to go.
Dark, fermented soy sauce may offer more antioxidant protection
than red wine or vitamin C. In fact, the antioxidants in vitamin
C may be far less potent than the antioxidants in soy sauce.
Those are the surprising results of a study from researchers at
the National University of Singapore (NUS). The NUS team also reports
that blood flow might improve by about 50 percent for a few hours
immediately following the consumption of fermented soy sauce.
In a Reuters report about the study, NUS researcher Barry Halliwell
noted that that soy sauce has a preventive aspect that could, "slow
down the rate of cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases."
Sounds pretty impressive. And you can imagine that those who read the
Reuters report might be inclined to up their consumption of soy sauce.
But if they do, I hope they didn't miss one very important word:
fermented.
Here's HSI Panelist Allan Spreen, M.D., on the issue of soy
fermentation: "I am not a fan of today's soy for a large list
of reasons (even though the stuff is commonly labeled a 'health
food'). The phytates on board block absorption of more than just
minerals (proteins are also involved), and are only deactivated
with soy that's been fermented. Tofu, textured soy protein and most
other forms are anything but. Tempeh, miso, soy sauce made by the
traditional method (most in the U.S. is not), and a few other forms
are the only ones that qualify, and we don't see them much around
here."
Hard facts
The Reuters report on the NUS study states: "Soy sauce (US) or
soya sauce is a fermented sauce made from soybeans (soya beans),
roasted grain, water and salt." Unfortunately, that comment might
lead many readers to believe that the soy sauce at their local
grocery is the same soy sauce described by NUS researchers. But
in most cases it's not. Not even close.
In a groundbreaking article about soy titled "The Ploy of Soy,"
Sally Fallon and Mary G Enig, Ph.D., of the Weston A. Price Foundation
(a pro-raw dairy group), put the nutritional realities of soy
consumption into perspective - a perspective you won't find anywhere
in the mainstream. Here are a few of the key points they make:
* Soybeans contain "antinutrients" that inhibit enzymes needed for
protein digestion and amino acid uptake
* Soybeans contain hemaglutinin, a substance that promotes the clotting
of red blood cells
* Soybean hemaglutinin and enzyme inhibitors are deactivated during the
fermentation process
* Enzyme inhibitors are reduced in bean curd and tofu, but not
completely eliminated
* Soybeans are high in phytic acid; an organic acid that impedes
the absorption of four key minerals: calcium, magnesium, iron,
and zinc
* The phytic acid content of soybeans can only be reduced by a
long fermentation period
* When vegetarians substitute dairy products and meat with bean
curd and tofu, they may risk mineral deficiencies
* Fermented soy products - such as miso and tempeh - provide
nutrients that are easily absorbed
Soy intake may also increase kidney stone risk. A 2001 study
published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry,
showed how soybeans, tofu, and commercially processed soy
products - especially textured soy protein - contain extremely
high levels of oxalate, a compound that binds with calcium in
the kidneys, increasing the risk of kidney stone development.
It can't be said often enough: Soy is not health food. For more
eye-opening details about soy, you can read "The Ploy of Soy" on
the Weston A. Price web site:

These days, it seems increasingly difficult to know what to shop
for at the grocery store. Is organic always better than conventional?
What if it's an "organic" product that's been flown half-way around
the world, burning up fossil fuels that contribute to global warming?
How do you decide what's better: A conventional apple grown locally
with chemical pesticides, or an organic apple from another continent?
This is a common conundrum among consumers: How do you decide which
grocery products are best for not just your own personal health,
but also the health of the planet? It's a more complex decision than
it might first seem. For one thing, much of the information necessary
to make an informed decision simply isn't available to consumers.
There is not determined enforcement of the rule, for example, that
foods are accurately labeled with their country of origin. Nor is
there any requirement to disclose which foods were grown with
pesticides, herbicides or other chemicals banned in the United
States (and U.K.) but still legal in other places like Central
and South America.
If that last sentence surprises you, it should: not one in a hundred
American consumers is aware that it is perfectly legal for U.S.
chemical companies to export dangerous chemical pesticides (like DDT)
that have been banned for use on crops in the United States. Those
pesticides are sold to countries with lower environmental and health
standards which turn around and use them on crops that are exported
right back to the USA. So U.S. consumers end up eating produce grown
with the very same pesticides banned in the United States, and it's
all perfectly legal and openly accepted by the Food and Drug
Administration and U.S. Department of Agriculture.
In the U.S., there's also the issue of so-called "illegal immigrants"
(which I believe to be a strange term, since in my opinion there's no
such thing as an "illegal" human being). On one hand, U.S. consumers
demand cheap produce that can only be grown and harvested with the help
of illegal immigrant labor. On the other hand, Americans grumble about
too many Mexicans migrating into California, Arizona, New Mexico and
Texas, claiming they are stealing jobs and bankrupting cities and
states. And yet, not surprisingly, when most consumers have a choice
between a $3 apple grown on a farm that pays legal wages to U.S.
workers and a $1 apple grown on a farm that pays "illegal" wages to
an undocumented worker from Mexico, most Americans will choose the
$1 apple (and in doing so, they are in fact continuing to vote for
the very illegal immigration they claim to oppose).
Challenging to consumers
Making an informed produce purchasing decision at the grocery store,
it turns out, is nearly impossible these days. There's no way to know
where the food came from, what soils it was grown in, the immigration
status of those who harvested it, and which chemicals were used on it.
And to make matters worse, powerful food corporations are constantly
trying to water down the definition of "organic" to include the
agricultural use of obscene substances such as raw human sewage.
(Fortunately, that was not ultimately allowed under the "organic"
label, but the food companies tried to sneak it in!)
The only way to truly know where your food comes from is to know your
local farmers. When you know the people growing your food, and you can
meet them face to face, then you know what you're getting. That's why
I'm a huge supporter of CSAs (Community Supported Agriculture),
farmers' markets, backyard gardening and local food co-ops. Through
organizations like these, consumers can maintain close relationships
with the people who grow their food, and farmers are able to exercise
far greater control over what they grow, how they grow it, and how
much they get paid for it.
Large commercial food companies like ADM would prefer that farmers
remain isolated from consumers. They want all the food processing to
go through them first, where they set the prices and conditions that
farmers are forced to accept. Other corporations have used intellectual
property control over genetically modified seeds to threaten farmers
who are refusing to adopt their pesticide-ready crop varieties. It's
all part of a plan to control the global food supply -- an endeavor
that inevitably destroys local farming as well as agricultural
biodiversity (which leaves crops susceptible to future wipeouts
from infectious disease).
Sure, these companies can produce a nice, round, shiny apple at the
grocery store for an unbelievably low price, but at what cost to the
world? The existence of that apple is based on numerous inputs that
may be highly detrimental to the health of the planet as a whole:
The burning of fossil fuels for farming and transportation, the use
of chemical pesticides that wash downstream and poison aquatic
ecosystems, the use of artificial fertilizers that lack real soil
nutrition, the destruction of microbial life in agricultural soils,
the loss of biodiversity and the subsequent decline in wildlife
populations, and so on.
The history is all there
When you look at an apple, you're really looking at an historical
account of everything that happened to bring you that apple. The
whole story is written into that apple. There's the intention of
the people involved with producing that apple, the health of the
soils, the use of chemicals (or not) on the apple, the impact on
the environment, and much more.
An organic, locally-farmed apple from a small family farm tells a
very different story: Respect for nature, positive intention,
healthful soils, humility in nature, connection with plants and
animals, biodiversity, minimal use of fossil fuels, and so on.
This is the kind of apple I'd like to eat
how about you?
Now here's the real kicker in all this: When you eat an apple,
you absorb and assimilate the story that went into creating that
apple! So eating an organic, locally-grown, consciously-harvested
apple gives you not only nourishment and biochemical nutrition, it
also gives you the positive energy of abundance, humility, harmony
and happiness. A conventionally-grown apple, on the other hand, is
more likely to give you the story of greed, desperation, depletion,
fear and disease. Is that the energy you want circulating in your
veins?
An apple, you see, is made of much more than its chemical constituents.
All fruits and vegetables have water, and water stores emotional energy,
passing it on to those who consume the water. Since an apple is probably
something like 75% water by volume, eating an apple is actually an
exercise in chewing mostly on water.
Aren't you curious to know what kind of energy and intention is in
that water? You should be. Because beyond the vitamins, minerals and
phytonutrients in the apple, the water impacts your body, mind and
spirit more than anything else. And one of the reasons we see so much
obesity in America today is because people are eating empty, lifeless
food products that provide only calories but no energetic nourishment.
The food is mostly an empty shell, lifeless and devoid of positive
vibration (and then they cook it, irradiate it and process it even
more to give it shelf life!).
For the most part, the food isn't being grown, harvested and sold at
a high enough vibration to end the cravings human beings have for
nourishment at all levels: physical, emotional and spiritual. The
food being sold today is missing something, and if you want complete
food that's nourishing at all levels, I strongly recommend you grow
it yourself or work with local farmers who you know are passionate
about cooperating with nature to maximize abundance for themselves
and those around them.

This fall, pumpkins will be spending less time on the front porch
and more on dinner menus, thanks to their new-found superfood status
(see below). Plus they're amazingly versatile: Pureed, mashed, or
cubed, pumpkins' mildly sweet taste can go even sweeter or savory,
depending on how you spice it.
At restaurants, look for pumpkin soups, bread, muffins, pumpkin-
flavored pasta dishes (think gnocchi or ravioli), and decadent
desserts, from cheesecake to gelato.
At home, keep a few (or a lot) of cans of pumpkin puree or frozen
bags on hand and stir a big spoonful into almost anything: soups,
stews, yogurt, curries, pancakes, even meatball mixtures.
Kel cuts up and steams fresh pumpkin in a pressure cooker for
about 10 minutes, cools it, bags it and freezes it. We make
cornbread, raisin-cinnamon-pumpkin bread, muffins, pies, etc.

..YUM!!!
In fact, there may be nothing you can't pump up with pumpkin --
including coffee: Starbucks' pumpkin spice latte boosted the chain's
sales 11% when it debuted! Need an extra prod to try pumpkin in
something besides pie? Here are a half-dozen reasons to go for
the gourd.
1. It gives your immune system a pre-flu season boost. A ½ cup
serving of pumpkin delivers a war chest of immune-boosting vitamins
and nutrients, including alpha and beta-carotene, vitamin C, iron,
and enough vitamin A to last you three days!
2. It fills you up for very few calories. A ½ cup of Libby's canned
100% pumpkin puree packs in 5g of stomach-satisfying fiber (20% of
your daily intake) for only 40 calories. By comparison, a slice of
whole-wheat bread has 2g of fiber and costs you 70 calories. (Canned
food is essentially dead food--our opinion
.you decide.)
3. It's got the goods to protect your vision. Pumpkin delivers a duo
of sight-saving carotenoid antioxidants (lutein and beta-cryptoxanthin)
that reduce the risk of age-related cataracts and sight-stealing
macular degeneration.
4. It keeps your body humming. Pumpkin is a great source of potassium,
which keeps your cells, nerves, and muscles running smoothly. Healthy
potassium levels also help keep blood pressure in check and can lower
the odds of stroke and heart disease.
5. It could cut your cancer risk. A diet high in carotenoids can lower
the risk of breast cancer, and beta-cryptoxanthin, a carotenoid that's
particularly plentiful in pumpkin, may help protect against lung cancer.
Aim to get your beta-carotene from foods like pumpkin, since supplements
don't offer the same cancer protection.
6. It gives your bones a little extra love. You'll also pick up a
little extra bone-building calcium with each serving. Plus beta-

new book by Young Toni Delgado
Leonard Orr, Father of the Rebirthing Movement, says of this book:
It is a fantastically powerful book. All Rebirthers should own a copy.
Without a Divine Mother there is no Life. She is First Mover,
She is First Cause and Effect. Without Her Intent for Creation,
no Creation is feasible. She is the Womb of Creation. She is the
Originator, the Activator, the Place of Gestation, the Trusting
Parent who releases us into the Celebration of Life. Thru Her
all things are possible and all possibilities exist.
Mary Anna from Maui has this to say:
A Call to Those Who Want to Accept Grace
Toni Delgado has
masterfully 'mistressfully?!' organized the contents of A
Call to Mother's Grace and Gifts in such a way that it will
easily become one's Handbook. There is such...well-grace in
her writing. While reading her latest book, one will literally
feel the heart beating rapidly because one's body truly 'gets'
what she communicates so well or the heart beat becomes soft and
measured matching the breathing that permeates throughout the
book. The choice while reading is to become healthy or healthier
in mind, body and spirit. It's even better if one knows Toni and
has sat in her living room because her intonation, caresses, humor
and acceptance make the passages, the words come alive. If one has
not had the gift bestowed upon oneself of knowing Toni, after reading
this book, you will find yourself calling or emailing Toni to thank
her for her clarity, her compassion, her passion for life and her
part in making the world a
better place, one breath at a time. We are all called to know our
Mother and accept her grace and gifts. Toni lovingly with humor
shows us how in this gem of a book.
