In Truth, Simplicity Love and Service
FEATURES:
Kindle the Light in yourself then kindle it in
others--one by one. Just as when the lamp burns it
consumes oil, so this Light will consume idleness,
laziness, greed. Like spreading light by lighting one
candle from another all around a room, so we should
spread love from heart to heart.
Babaji April 6, 1982
O Shiva, image of mercy...
Thou art a never-failing spring of bliss, the infinite
essence of truth.
Thou art the form and base of everything pervading the
world.
Thou art worthy of being served by Lakshmi and Vishnu,
yet you are their selfless servant, as well.
Divine love is given to those who always repeat Thy
name.
O Shiva, image of mercy...
Who has been able to know the greatness of Thy name so
far?
Beings of Love and beings of power both sing Thy name
in praise.
O Lord, I am waiting until now with trust in Thee.
That Thou and Thy name shall constantly reside in my
breath.
O Shiva, image of mercy...
Holy master, show grace to me, show grace to me, have
mercy on me.
Thou art brother of the humble, show grace to me, have
mercy on me.
Thou art the trinity - the embodiment of knowledge,
the knower and the object of knowledge.
Show grace to me, have mercy on me.
Thou holy divine Master of eternal form, embodiment of
joy, show grace to me, have mercy on me.
O Shiva, image of mercy, why do you delay my
liberation so long?
Remove poverty, pain, doubts. Have compassion, have
compassion.
Greetings Young Readers, We again had an awesome
gathering for World Peace using the delicious Bursting
The Body Light-Violet Flame of Forgiveness Breath
Meditation. After harmonious discussion, we formulated
as our Intent a portion of Gurudevs prayer: MAY ALL
BEINGS EVERYWHERE KNOW HAPPINESS AND AWARENESS, AND IF
THEY DO NOT, MAY I ABIDE IN PEACE.
We cannot coerce others into what we believe is
goodwill for all. There will always be diversity
this
is what makes us unique and grand. We cannot bend
others to our will. So, let us choose for ourselves
and allow others their own lessons and karma.
Please join us the first Sunday of each month. We
gather at 3 pm rocky mountain time, we take time to
share, and breathe using BBL -VFF breath/meditation
and then we usually have a fabulous baked goodie. You
can join us wherever you are with BBL - VFF breath/
meditation. Bursting the Body Light - Violet Flame of
Forgiveness. Victory to us! Jai Ma!

"If you realize that all things change, there is
nothing you will try to hold on to. If you are not
afraid of dying, there is nothing you cannot achieve."
- Lao Tzu
Many more quotes from him at
http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/l/lao_tzu.html
This is a simple technique I use and teach that is
very effective. It is simple and magical. One great
advantage is that each person can play around with it
and explore its possibilities on their own and in
their own way. There are no lists of rules, no
sequence of moves to be remembered, no correct
procedures; just start the process and let it develop,
as it does. Follow along, like following a stream,
innocently, curiously, in wonderment.
If you can, accept the concept, that each person was
created by God, or the Universe, or Tao. As the Bible
states, God formed clay and "breathed into it". We
have inside us, like a memory, that Pulse of Breath;
our Original Breath, just as you might have read of
our Original Face or our Original Mind. This is what
we were, before.
If you like think of it as the proverbial twinkle in
your parents eyes just before they conceived you. That
pulse of joy that brought you into existence.
I like to imagine my Original Face as that of a child
with a smile on it. It is an easy image for anyone I
think, a young face with a smile. While this is not
using the inner child concept of New Age psychology,
there is value in imagining that happy young energy
inside. The original breath inside us is a young
child, innocent and open.
Taoist practices try to get us in touch with our own
energy. Once one can accept the concept of our own
inner energy one can start to feel it. Once you start
to feel it you are in a position to cultivate it. This
is the aim of the inner smile practice.
The practice:
Shut your eyes and feel your lips. Immediately you
should feel the energy on the lips. Now bring them
into a slight smile. I think it is impossible to do
this and not feel some happy feeling at the same time.
A student of my School of Esoteric Arts, a biologist,
speculates that as the muscles move into a smile then
the wiring of our emotions is such that we feel good;
that it is hard to put the lips into a smile and not
feel happy.
This good feeling, this sense of a happy energy inside
is the basis of all that follows.
Life on earth is sun based. We get the gravitational
effect of the moon on the tides etc but our main
energy source is the sun. We are energetically linked
to the sun. It shines its energy on us and we grow
with it. Without it we will become extinct. It is
central to our existence.
When I shut my eyes for this practice I like to
imagine a big ball of golden energy like the sun just
above my head and beaming into my face. I turn the
corners of my lips into a slight smile. I breathe into
that smile, feeling good. I feel that golden ball of
energy. I feel warm on my face. After some breaths I
put that stretching smiling energy across my forehead.
With each in breath I stretch it across, across each
lobe of the brain; with each out breath relax and just
feel the energy there. Then I put it so it stretches
across my eyes, into the corner of each eyelid. I find
this very relaxing.
In this way I move down the body, with each breath
feeling that energy of the sun melting me inside,
smiling across me.
Spots that can be included are across the throat, from
the heart across the chest, across the belly in front
and then across the back at belly button level, Ming
Men (this links into the belt chi or kidney meridian);
from the spine in middle of the shoulders to the
shoulders. There is a gate on the spine there where
energy gets stuck.
Each inbreath a smile then relax and feel.
If you ever lose focus go back to the lips and feel a
smile there.
Across inner organs, pelvis, groin, across knees,
across soles of feet, across toes, hands.
You can do it just as you like, for as long as you
like
I tell my students to love their body. When you smile
at your body it is like a boss coming into a place of
work and letting the employees know they are
appreciated. When you scowl at yourself you are like
an intimidating dominating boss making the workers
tense. Your organs will function better if they feel
appreciated and loved.
Some people go around with an inner scowl and life
confirms it. They see all that is wrong and it makes
them feel worse. They seek for what is wrong. They are
the critics of life. They have the eyes and nose for
that, inner scowl at the ready. Some go around with an
inner smile. When things go wrong they make them
better.
Inside us we have all sorts of different and competing
energies. A smile is like saying,
"OK. It is all OK" like a fond mother who watches her
children and friends play. We are doing the best we
can, so give your self a smile.
You can beam inside a smile to someone in need of it,
someone ill, someone unhappy, to someone with whom you
have a problem maybe.
Then end the practice with an inside thank you.
I use it when I practice my moving forms. This is not
as easy as sitting with a smile, for, by habit, as one
focuses carefully or when tries to remember the
sequence one loses a smile. I have students who purse
their lips or grimace as they concentrate. When one is
trying to concentrate on inner sensations, internal
movement one can lose the smile and go blank with
concentration.
It is not an external grin. We often grin when we are
trying to project something or manipulate somebody.
Radiant flashes of teeth.
It is a smile that bubbles up from inside, something
essential inside, of contentment. Like when a baby
sees someone who loves it. A smile that says, "Here I
am","Here you are", "Here we are and isn't it grand?"
The sort of smile you hope God has when She sees you
doing your best.
You can imagine a very accomplished martial artist who
is challenged by someone he knows he can easily beat.
He can smile, a smile of total confidence, of knowing
his power, a smile of nothing to prove, nothing to do,
just sure of it all.
In my forms I often try to maintain that smiling
energy and in each move have it flow there. As I
extend the smiling energy flows along the arm, the
muscles stay relaxed and I imagine the smile extending
beyond the fist, beyond the palm, into the world. When
I stand up the smile spirals up inside and reaches
above my head, stretching into "heaven". When I sink
it goes down into the earth.
So much of our life is spent trying to accomplish
something, to get somewhere. The inner smile
recognizes that where we are is All, and All is Good.

PHILADELPHIA, USA, May 12, 2004: (HPI Note: Mother's
Day is May 8, Sunday.) On Saturday, Savita Patel got
the usual Mother's Day treatment from her three
children: flowers, dinner and a gift certificate to a
spa. Yesterday, Patel, a Langhorne resident who was
born in India, was honored in a very different way.
She, with 50 other mothers, was the focus of a Mathru
puja--a prayer for mothers--at the Chinmaya Mission
Tri-State Center, a Hindu temple in Langhorne. During
the religious ceremony presided over by Swami
Siddhananda, the children knelt in front of their
mothers. They symbolically washed their mothers' feet
with a sprinkle of water, gave them each a gold coin
and fruit, and anointed their foreheads with a
vermilion paste. The children bowed their heads to the
floor in reverence and were in turn blessed by their
mothers. The ceremony was "a chance to show your mom
how much you appreciate her, but in a more traditional
way," said Savita Patel's daughter Amika. "It's not
just gift-giving." Her mother agreed. The other
Mother's day treats were welcome, she said, "but this
is something extra-special to me." Members of the
Langhorne temple said there was no exact equivalent to
Mother's Day in India. Yesterday's ceremony was
adapted by Swami Chinmayananda, the founder of
Chinmaya Mission.
"Mother is next to the God" in importance, said Ramesh
Choksi, one of the board members of the mission. In
Hindu prayer ceremonies, "usually, we invoke the Gods
to the seat of honor and offer our respect," said
Nagaraj, a temple member. "In this case, we invoke the
mother to the seat of honor and offer her our
respect." The words in the Sanskrit chant that that
the children sang to their mothers bore out that
sentiment" "By mother's blessings alone men become
worshipful in this world and happy in the other
world," it said in part. "He who sees God in his own
mother, he alone sees Him everywhere as well." Hari
Pillai, a Drexel University student, said that it was
important to him, and especially to his mother, to add
the religious element to Mother's Day. "You can say,
'Mom have a good day,' but you can also pray for her,
too," he said. "You need to connect with her more
spiritually...it's adding Hinduism to make it more
special."
This Fathers Day I will honor my biological Dad with
a fire ceremony instead of a phone call and a gift. He
left his body on February 5th 2005. Yes, I know that
Fathers Day is a creation of an industry that really
doesnt give a flip about the honoring of parents.
They just care about how many times their cash
registers ring to bring them more prosperity
but that
is ok.. I support them in their prosperity, because
without their reminder, many of us would forget about
the precious vehicles that delivered us into this
school of learning. Its altogether too easy to become
so self absorbed in our own egos and the quest to make
a living to support ourselves and our families or
other endeavors.
The reminder of Fathers Day and Mothers Day or
rather the celebration of such is often done as an
obligatory duty by many rather than out of deep
gratitude. It is so very easy to minimize the efforts
of our parents or grandparents in raising the families
they generated. Our parents were the offspring of
those who lived thru the depression. As a consequence,
they experienced a very different kind of lifestyle.
It was a way of life they memorized even though they
may not have consciously referenced it.
Life was very much a struggle for our grandparents and
parents. Every effort was made to do better and
provide for their families thru sweat and sometimes
suffering. Many sacrifices were made for the sake of
the family. Many of those sacrifices have not been
acknowledged nor even made mention of since. I do not
support or condone sacrifice, and I am so very
grateful for what my parents, grandparents, and
relations experienced. I get to see the way they did
life. From their experiences, I can pick and choose to
adopt their way or choose another way.
We are spoiled and our children, by and far, are even
more spoiled. How do we rectify this dilemma? The
misunderstanding or rather the belief that life owes
us and the forgetting of those who came before us, who
loved us into being?
I can remember when I was in my twenties. I was truly
a spoiled brat. I thought all my decisions about my
family were real and true. I did not value the efforts
of my parents. And I did not see them as human
beings
I just saw them as the people I lived with. I
often dreamed and wished that my real parents would
come for me someday and take me away from this family
that I was sure I did not belong to. Mostly I was
disconnected from Source, from myself and from my true
nature.
I did not have appreciation for either of my parents.
I made my mother real wrong. I thought she was an
habitual witch. She always seemed to be nervous and
angry. I felt like she always was in menopause. I did
not have eyes to see and appreciate that she slaved at
home with house work, ironing (she ironed everything!)
cooking, sewing, etc. She did nothing for herself.
Everything she did she did for us kids. My Mom never
wanted children, yet like so many women of her era,
she did not see a way to do her life any differently.
My Father was unavailable to me when I was a child
because he worked seven days a week to support this
family of five children. He often came home after our
bedtime and on weekends, he brought his work home and
often dedicated himself to that instead of doing
things with us. My Dad was a great stationery engraver
and artist. I learned this when I went to work with
him when I was 16. My Dad was also an incredible
father. His family was his life. He loved us more than
anything and he wanted so very much for us to have
everything he never had.
As a child and teen, I put a great deal of blame on my
parents. I blamed them for my unhappiness. I was angry
and didnt know what to do with it. It was easy for me
to blame them. So convinced was I that they were wrong
and I was right, that I dedicated the whole decade of
my twenties to do everything I could to not be like
them.
Then one day in the early 70s when I was taking a
class at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee for
my Masters degree, a light bulb went off in my head.
It was a Child Psychology class. The professor was
talking about the fact that as much as we strive to be
unlike our parents, WE NEVER LEAVE HOME. We dont
leave home or our parents behind, because we have
memorized home and our parents
they are in our blood,
belief systems, they are in our every way that we do
just about everything.
A few years later in Rebirthing, I was able to recover
many of my parents and grandparents memories. I was
able to see them for the first time as human beings. I
was able to see what their journeys had been like. It
gave me a whole new perspective. It gave me
understanding and compassion for them as human beings.
I could see them as loving, caring, struggling people
trying to find their way on their own Earth Walk.
Learning Quantum Dynamics after that allowed me to
change the conditioning and programming of my beloved
lineage that was struggle and false. I let go of those
aspects that were limiting and I embraced those that
served for my highest good.
Today, I really treasure the conversations I have with
my 82 young Mother. She is a different person, because
I have changed. My parents will always be with me and
this thought makes me happy. I have grown some in the
last 57 years and I am thankful. I shall always
cherish the gifts of themselves that my Father and
Mother have given me. Their true essence is in me
forever. They gave me life and they gave the very best
they knew how to my siblings and myself. It takes a
lot of courage to be in body and to be responsible for
yourself. It takes far more to do this for a family of
seven.
I now take comfort in knowing that the experiences and
wisdom of my parents can serve me to be the best
person I can create myself to be. Thank you Daddy and
Mom for the gift of life. I can now be the best of
both of you.
Let them throw their curses.
If inside, I am connected
to what's true, my soul
stays quiet and clear.

Did you experiment with some of the practices
mentioned in the last issue of Tools For Conscious
Awareness? (Go to www.anextstep.org, click on archives
of the May issue). What results did you get? Here is
another list of practices. We hope you get inspired to
integrate at least one or a few into your life. Enjoy
the results!
37. Watch your thoughts. Watch the mind.
38. Use affirmations: Raise the quality of your
thoughts; transform your thoughts into conscious
chosen thoughts.
39. Perceive your own self righteousness: become aware
of and see your own self righteousness. See it in your
thoughts, feelings, perceptions, conclusions, etc.
40. Drink healthy water everyday as an internal method
of water purification.
41. Ventilate the space you preside in (ie. Air out
your house)
42. Shave your head.
43. Grow your hair long.
44. Play or listen to percussion.
45.Listen to loud music.
46. Stay in the presence of and use crystals.
47.Market the ideas of spiritual purification--Turning
the ideas of spiritual purification into a business
can benefit you personally, as well as the society and
the world.
48. Sex: sexual orgasm changes and transforms energy
and can be a way of cleansing and balancing the energy
body.
50. Abstain from sex: Abstinence from sex can be just
as powerful, cleansing and healing in the energy body
as practicing sex.
51. Abstain from certain foods: pick a food that
youre normally addicted to and abstain from it.
52. Go on a raw food diet.
53. Go on a fruit and nut diet.
54. Grow your own food.
55. Develop a successful relationship with a farmer:
get your food from that particular farmer. This
increases your whole awareness about that whole
element in your life, as well as the quality of the
food that youre experiencing.
56. Change careers: changing careers is a very
powerful technique of spiritual purification. This
brings about, many times, true economic security.
57. Stay up all night: Notice the changes in your body
and mind.
58. Change your carpet: carpets become polluted with
dirt, micro-organisms, smells, negative energy, etc.
They need to be changed on a regular basis.
59. Trek in the Himalayas.
60. Bathe in hot water.
61. Bathe in cold water.
62. Swim in the oceans surf.
63. Stand in the oceans surf.
65. Sit by large bodies of water i.e. ocean, river,
lake.
66. Take a shower before and after your bath.
67. Turn the water to cold when youre taking a
shower.
68. Let go: dont fight it when youre wiped out
(exhausted, really tired).
69. Become aware of the guru belly phenomenon: become
aware of how you process other peoples energy through
the solar plexus chakra. Learn to process your energy
through the use of spiritual purification techniques
as a means of controlling the guru belly.
70. Process other peoples energy. This helps you to
become aware of your deeply embedded stuff that you
would normally suppress from your awareness.
71. Surround yourself with supportive people.
72. Participate in group processes. Share and receive
feedback from others. Notice how this changes your
energy body.

We are all masters of our ship. I don't know about
you, but I would rather conquer the cause of my food
cravings rather than eat something that may be as
detrimental or worse than what I'm trying to avoid.
The following information is presented for your
education and discernment.
A chemical that tricks you into tasting sugar or salt
when it is not really there may soon be added to a
variety of foods, including some made by Kraft Foods,
Nestlι, Coca Cola and Campbell Soup.
The result? Processed foods could contain less salt or
sugar (one-third to one-half less than regular
products) and the product would still taste the same.
Senomyx, the biotechnology company behind the new food
additive, has already developed several chemicals
that, although they contain no flavor of their own,
activate or block receptors in the mouth that taste.
The chemicals can mimic or enhance the taste of sugar,
salt and monosodium glutamate (MSG).
The chemical compounds will not be listed on
ingredient labels. Instead, they'll be included with a
general ingredient category already on most processed
food labels: "artificial flavors." Flavor Chemicals
Able to Bypass FDA Approval Process The compounds will
be used in small amounts (less than one part per
million), which means Senomyx does not have to go
through the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA)
approval process typically necessary to release food
additives. Instead of the lengthy FDA process, the
company only had to be classified as "generally
recognized as safe" by the Flavor and Extract
Manufacturers Association--a task that took less than
18 months (including a three-month safety study on
rats). Consumer groups and food safety experts have
pointed out that while the chemicals' ability to
reduce salt, sugar and MSG in foods could be
beneficial, one three-month safety study is not enough
to guarantee safety. They say more rigorous testing is
needed before the compounds are released onto the
market.
Senomyx says the flavorings would be used in such
minute amounts that they would pose no safety risk. In
contrast to the flavorings being used at 1 part per
million, artificial sweeteners are used at levels of
200 to 500 parts per million.
Kraft Foods, Nestlι, Coca-Cola and Campbell Soup have
paid Senomyx a total of $30 million for research and
development and have contracted for exclusive rights
to use the flavorings. Senomyx will receive royalties
of 1 percent to 4 percent of product sales when the
flavorings are added to food products.
Kraft plans to use the flavorings to reduce sugar in
Kool-Aid, while Campbell hopes to use them to reduce
salt in soups and beverages like V8. Other food
additives have also been regarded as safe and later
side effects galore are uncovered, at least that was
the case with Olestra, Nutrasweet and Splenda.

Losing weight is no fun, so let's not pretend that
it is. First you have to learn all the rules of your
chosen diet - then you have to follow them. Then,
if you're like many other dieters, you put some of
those lost pounds back on again. But there is another
way to lose weight without following a huge list of
rules: eat less.
Now there's a wild and crazy idea! Actually, experts
say it works for the long term and is no harder
than trying to adhere to the rules of your latest and
greatest diet.
Easier, in fact, because your goal is to follow some
basic healthy eating habits so you won't be facing a
huge list of restrictions. Here are some tips to help
make it happen:
* Eat smaller portions, including items with protein,
fat, and fiber in each meal. This combination is the
one that researchers have found effective in helping
to keep hunger
pangs away.
* Another way to feel full, and stay hydrated, is to
drink lots of water - two full glasses for every meal.
* Always - yes, always - eat breakfast. This critical
meal establishes your daily metabolism and keeps you
in balance. But not just any breakfast will do. You
need protein and fiber, and you don't need the
empty calories found in sweet, high fat items like
doughnuts, pastries and many packaged cereals.
* Don't count calories or weigh food. Simply use the
palm of your hand as a portion control guide. Most
of us are fully aware of what a "too large" portion
looks like. We also know how it makes us feel.
You should never feel bloated or stuffed-eat only
until you are not hungry. You really aren't giving
up anything if you save the rest for later. If it
helps, think of it as taking a break when you set food
aside for another time.
* Give up something. It might be your nightly
glass of wine, chocolate bars, or regular soft drinks.
Then, commit to doing without the item for one full
year. You'll find that you'll feel better without
the sugar, caffeine, or alcohol. You certainly
won't miss the calories as your waistline begins to
shrink.
* Identify your comfort food. What is it that you
reach for in times of stress? Pizza, fried chicken,
or a burger with fries all seem to top the list of
foods people reach for when feeling down, anxious,
and tired. Instead of reaching for food to
comfort you, engage in a favorite activity. Go
golfing, take a walk through your neighborhood, or hop on your bicycle for a quick spin.
* Survey your life situation. Are you troubled by
where things stand with your job, your family or your
friends? If you aren't satisfied with some aspect of
your life, you may be using food to fill the void.
When you create a more rewarding life, you will
focus more on using food as nourishment rather
than as a substitute for something important that
you lack. Could it be time to find new friends,
resolve family differences or go back to school to
train for a new job?
If you want control of your weight, then you need to
take control of your life. You don't need to be
bound by a zillion diet rules when you practice life
management and eat sensibly. Here's a mantra for you,
repeat it over and over until it sinks in: Gain
control, lose weight.
A final word. Sustained weight loss is best achieved
as part of a regular exercise program. Eating less and
exercising is a dynamite way to lose weight, feel
better and become healthier. Ready, set, go!

Medical Doctors:
a. The number of doctors in the U.S. is 700,000.
b. Accidental deaths caused by medical per year are
120,000.
c. Accidental deaths per doctor is 0.171.
Now think about this.
Gun Owners:
a. The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000.
b. The number of accidental gun deaths per year (all
age groups) is 1,500.
c. The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is
0.000188.
Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times

gun owners.

There is no chaos in the world, except the chaos which
your mind creates. It is self-

DANCING WITH DEATH THRU SENILITY INTO ETERNALITY by
Young Toni Delgado
What will we be able to teach our children and our
grandchildren when we learn to conquer old age and the
unconscious death urge? What will be the focus in our
lives when death
the inevitability of death no longer
sucks us dry with fear? What will the earth be like
when our awareness raises us to a new level of
understanding and our bodies respond in kind?
We have been conditioned to believe that senility is a
frightful place because we believe it is the end of
our productivity as a being. We believe it is the
experience that precedes death and we are loathesome
to it. Senility can come to an individual at any time
in their lives. It does not just occur to the elderly.
It can happen in your thirties or younger.
What is important to know is that it absolutely can be
overcome! I have done it! Leonard Orr and Sondra Ray
and others have done it. Leonard says that senility is
the final exam of the human condition. That sounds and
feels right. You must however, have the tools and
psychological preparation to outlast it. Read my book
and learn how.
