HEALTH INSURANCE IS IT NECESSARY?

I quit accepting insurance twenty years ago... I am a fringe element. I provide health care for people who want to be healthy…not for those who want to be fixed.

The insurance scam is much like the oil scam. (There is plenty of oil.) Medicine / insurance has allowed the public cheap insurance for long enough to have the public believe it needs it. Add to that the constant misinformation about cancer, AIDS and other illnesses and we have a public feeling hopeless and helpless.

There are no incurable diseases...there is a created or "designed" fear-terror manufactured by the insanely expensive hospital procedures…all designed to make even the very strong cringe in terror. When some one says they survived cancer through the medical model I am impressed... However if they say they survived cancer or aids through alternative care... REAL alternatives I am happy and NOT impressed...Because this is natural and should be our norm.

We think or believe we "need" insurance because this is what we have been told and indoctrinated into believing and that is what the price tag implies...this is crap. No one deserves to be paid the wages that are being paid to medicine (yes, not even CEO's). For example a cardiologist 20 years ago was being paid $400 an hour. When health care, and hospitals become corporations, they lose their humanity and their focus on healing. We need the "country doctor" who came into our homes, who cared for the family from start to finish...who knew everyone from birth through marriage…and yes, was there to support the new mom, having a baby.

These days are not gone... they simply have been gotten rid of because the Corporation made sure there was no competition. Quoting a Medical journal ...a CEO of a major hospital... "We're like a whore house, if the beds aren't full we aren't making any money"... and that is insanity.

We do not need insurance... we need a health care system that provides care for everyone... (without the government) brought to us by physicians who want to be health care providers not because they can drive mercedes or pilot a luxury yacht ...But because They Care About People...not the dollar.

America no longer has health care... we have programs for the rich... and programs for the poor. One gets health care, the other gets crapped on. It is that simple.

Process #21 Reclaiming One's Natural State of Health: (read once a day)

"It is natural for my body to be well.

Even if I don't know what to do in order to get better, my body does.

I have trillions of cells with individual Consciousness, and they know how to achieve their individual balance.

This is very difficult when a problem is chronic or very painful, but the way out is disengaging from the problem set.

At the subatomic level, all we are is a bunch of vibrating photons and phonons that are speeded up or down according to conscious intent. The harmonization of those particle/waves is what manifests well being. We can bring everything into balance by focusing our attention on where we desire to go - not where we don't want to go. This takes some skilled mindfulness and commitment. A system like Matrix Energetics will keep you on track.

SPOTTING LIES: LISTEN, DON’T LOOK

Forget what you've learned from years of watching cop shows on television. Liars do not have trouble making eye contact. The guilty don't fidget. Culprits don't sweat more. As a matter of fact, research indicates that innocent people tend to be more nervous when they are being questioned because they are very intent on proving that they didn't do it. Liars come in with a script in their heads.

"A lot of different signs of anxiety are mistaken for signs of deception," says Kevin Colwell, a forensic scientist at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven. He says research shows that even for the innocent, the whole tenor of an encounter with police can make it harder to remember things accurately. "In interrogation the whole goal is to convince somebody or trick them or coerce them whatever it takes to get them to confess to the crime."

Colwell is on the forefront of a movement to change that mindset and convince law enforcement and other interrogators that encounters with suspects are opportunities to get information, not just a moment to elicit a confession. The concern is that if an interviewer is already convinced that someone committed the crime they are investigating, interviewers stop searching for other answers. And that can lead to mistakes.

Seek Information, Not a Confession
This approach, of seeking information rather than a confession, is already well entrenched in Britain. Back in the mid-1980s, after a raft of cases involving false confessions, British courts ruled that officers were no longer allowed to use aggressive techniques — such as lying about evidence — to goad suspects. Interrogations in Britain also have to be taped. This has changed the way UK officers interview a suspect. They chat them up, and start by asking questions to which they already know the answers. The police in Britain say this shift in strategy hasn't reduced the number of confessions.

Colwell and a forensic psychologist at National University in La Jolla, Calif., named Cheryl Hiscock-Anisman have been doing this kind of interrogation research for years. As a general matter, they have found that people who are making up a story prepare an airtight, simple script that is easy to remember. People telling the truth have no script because, basically, they lived the story. So they tend to recall unrelated details and often make mistakes.

Colwell and Hiscock-Anisman have been working on a system that draws that contrast more vividly. And they've been taking their theories out into the field.

They are training police officers across the country to look for verbal patterns instead of fidgets. Just weeks ago they sat down with a group at the San Diego Police Department.

Sergeant Romeo De Los Reyes sat in on the session and, initially, was a little skeptical. "We've always learned that communication is 60- to 90-percent non-verbal," he said. "So this was a different approach to dealing with deception."

Now he sees this approach as another tool for his interview toolbox.

Ask a Simple Question
Basically the system asks an interviewer to pay attention to words and verbal cues rather than focusing on non-verbal communication. Hiscock-Anisman suggests interviewers begin with a non-threatening question. "For example, when I was living in Texas and I was running inmates for one of my studies we asked, 'what was the first day like for you in prison?'" she said. She chose that question for two reasons: it was a vivid memory, and it was very likely to get a truthful answer.

"There's no need to lie about your first day in prison, even if you're an inmate," she said.

The first question is designed to give interviewers a baseline of sorts. It gives them an idea of how much detail someone provides when they are telling a story truthfully. Next, interviewers are supposed to ask the person to tell them about the event under investigation. Then they compare the two stories. Does the suspect use the same number of descriptive phrases? Is there the same kind of recall? All these things are very important when trying to turn a gut instinct about whether someone is lying, into something more rooted in specific patterns.

Then comes the harder question, which Hiscock-Anisman says often separates the liars from the truth-tellers. "I say, now what I want you to do is I want you to go back to that time and I want you to describe every single thing that happened but this time I want you to tell me what happened last and work all the way backwards," she said. She laughs. "A liar is going to have a hell of a time, right?"

Try this the next time your teenager comes home late.

The point is, the research indicates that a person who is being honest tends to provide tons of little facts, anecdotal details that you only get from living a situation. In fact, Hiscock-Anisman says she's found that truth-tellers tend to add about 30 percent more detail than people who are lying.

But there are still practical questions on how law enforcement might use this approach. San Diego's De Los Reyes says the system might work with someone who has decided to talk, but what about someone who is refusing to cooperate? That's unclear. Even so, the San Diego Police Department has asked Colwell and Hiscock-Aninson to come back, to do more training.

ARE YOU DIZZY?

"Your mind has been the structure that bound you and contained you, and it became your sense of who you are. As the mind is unbinding, and it literally unbinds, there comes a time when it has to loosen up the structures that have bound your sense of reality and identity. As those bindings loosen up, and especially if they do so rather rapidly, you will find yourself very disoriented and dizzy. Continue to breathe and breathe without moving, and allow the fusion that then is part of the experience, for your own spirit is in charge of this dissolution of what is not truly of essence. So breathe, allow the fusion and it will pass. You will sense a sort of difference as these structures disappear, literally disappear, so that your own humanity is not bound. You have a body and there is a physicality, but the structures of consciousness of mind are no longer your reality for personhood, for identity and for experiencing who you are here. That shifts."

A BREATHING PRACTICE TO REDUCE STRESS AND ANXIETY

People often ask me for a simple breathing exercise to reduce stress and anxiety. Here is a safe, powerful practice I use and teach often and that I first included in the June 2008 issue of The Journal of Harmonious Awakening, which is no longer being published.

Next time you feel stressed out or anxious or about to be, take an inner sensory snapshot of your entire body/mind. Simply observe what is happening in your sensations, emotions, and thoughts as honestly as you can. Then, for at least three minutes, put most of your attention on your breathing, especially on your out-breath. Let your out-breath begin to lengthen naturally as you breathe in through your nose and out through pursed lips (as though you were gently blowing on a candle without extinguishing it). Don’t pay any particular attention to your inhalation; let it arise by itself when it’s ready.

As the lengthening of your out-breath takes place, you will find yourself beginning to relax. To deepen this relaxation, you can hum quietly for several breaths during the exhalation, sensing the action of the humming throughout your body. Don’t force the humming in any way, and be sure after each out-breath (hum) to simply wait for the in-breath to arise on its own.

When you’re ready to stop, just return to following your breath in and out through your nose, listening for several breaths to whatever is occurring both inside and out. Then take another sensory snapshot of yourself. How do you feel? Are you freer now from your habitual mental and emotional reactions? Are you more able now to sense the life force moving spontaneously through you? Just sense and observe what is now occurring in this amazing temple of energy that you call your body.

HEMORROIDS How Do You Know if You Have Hemorroids?

Hemorroids aren’t a pleasant subject and can be embarrassing to discuss -- even with your healthcare specialist. But they are quite a common problem in both men and women. In fact, according to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (a branch of the National Institutes of Health), it’s estimated about half the people in the U.S. will have Hemorroids by age 50.

This isn’t surprising given the typical Western diet coupled with lifestyles which often include too much stress and too little physical exercise. Hemorroids aren’t exclusively a condition of the modern Western world; however they are rarely seen in more primitive, less industrialized cultures.

What is a Hemorroid, Exactly?
Hemorroids are veins in the wall in your rectum and anus that have become twisted, swollen and inflamed. They can form either internally or externally, and the resulting lumps can cause pain and bleeding.

If you have a hemorrhoid inside your anus, above the junction of your rectum and anus, you have an internal hemorrhoid. If your Hemorroids are below this junction and under the skin around the anus, they are considered to be external. Both types of Hemorroids may remain in your anus or protrude outside it.

How Hemorroids Form
Hemorroids are most often created by an increase in pressure, usually from straining to have a bowel movement. Hemorroids are common in people with chronic digestive disturbances – especially constipation. They are also seen in the elderly, and during pregnancy. If you’re pregnant, the additional pressure your growing baby places on your uterus can result in Hemorroids. Childbirth can increase the problem, but fortunately, most Hemorroids caused by pregnancy resolve after delivery.

Another common cause of Hemorroids is obesity, because when you are overweight, your body simply does not have enough of the forces to generate proper elimination through your intestine.

How Do You Know if You Have a Hemorrhoid?
If you have Hemorroids you may or may not experience symptoms, and with proper care, most symptoms disappear within a few days.

The most common sign of an internal hemorrhoid is the presence of bright red blood, usually noticeable on toilet paper or in the toilet bowl. It’s possible for an internal hemorrhoid to protrude through your anus, however, in which case you’ll probably experience some irritation and pain.

If your Hemorroids are external, your symptoms can include swelling or a lump (blood clot) around your anus. These are referred to as thrombosed external Hemorroids, and can be quite painful.

Depending on your toilet habits, you can aggravate your problem, causing additional irritation, bleeding and itching. (Drainage from Hemorroids can also cause itching.) If you suffer from Hemorroids, it’s important not to strain to have a bowel movement. Excessive rubbing or cleaning of the area can also exacerbate your problem.

Other conditions with symptoms which can mimic those of Hemorroids are anal abscesses, anal fissures and fistulas, and non-specific itching or irritation (commonly termed pruritus ani).

A Word of Caution About Rectal Bleeding
If you have bleeding you suspect is hemorrhoid-related, I recommend you consult your doctor or other medical specialist – especially if it’s a new symptom for you. Bleeding from the rectum can be a sign of other, more serious conditions, including colorectal cancer, especially if you’re elderly.

As mentioned above, bright red blood is most often a sign of Hemorroids, but any new or sudden signs of bleeding should be investigated, regardless of your age.

Interestingly, vitamin D is one of the best ways to reduce your risk of colon cancer. Optimizing your vitamin D levels may reduce your risk by as much as 80 percent!

So make sure you get your vitamin D levels checked, and strive to maintain your levels around 60 ng/ml throughout the year as a powerful preventive measure.

Preventing Hemorroids in the First Place is the Goal

Hemorroids are most often the result of straining due to constipation.

Constipation is frequently caused by improper diet, lack of exercise, inadequate intake of water, and stress. Other contributors include laxative abuse, irritable bowel syndrome, and hypothyroidism.

These simple steps can help prevent constipation:
Eat fiber-rich foods. Vegetables are great sources of fiber. Ideally you’ll want to eat those recommended for your individual nutritional type. Consuming a wide variety of vegetable fiber will provide the bulk needed for your stool to pass comfortably through your intestines. If you need extra fiber, I suggest whole organic flaxseeds. Grind them in a coffee grinder and add one or two tablespoons to your food. You can also try organic psyllium, which helps alleviate both constipation and diarrhea. I recommend avoiding any type of non-organic psyllium, such as Metamucil. Proceed slowly if you’re not used to getting much fiber in your diet, as you may experience some bloating and gas as your digestive system gets accustomed to the added fiber.

Consider eating fresh oranges for the flavonoids they contain. Flavonoids are powerful phytochemicals which promote the health of your veins. You might also consider adding coconut oil to your diet. South Pacific tropical islanders are known to consume at least half the fat in their diets from coconuts, with the result that many typical Western illnesses and conditions -- including Hemorroids -- are uncommon. My personal recommendation is Pure Virgin Coconut Oil.

Drink plenty of pure water -- either clean spring water or water filtered by reverse osmosis. Use your thirst and the color of your urine as guides for whether you’re adequately hydrated. Your urine should be a light yellow color. If it is dark yellow, you’re likely not drinking enough water. (A bright yellow color is usually the result of vitamin B2, found in most multi-vitamins.) Adequate fiber and water create softer stools. A softer stool moves more easily through your colon and lessens the need for straining.

Exercise regularly to keep your digestive tract stimulated.

Take a high-quality probiotic. Balancing your gut bacteria will not only help your constipation, but your overall health as well.

Get control of your emotional stress. I highly recommend tools such as meridian tapping techniques to help alleviate emotional stressors which contribute to constipation. It can also help you reduce and eliminate painful symptoms of hemorrhoid flare-ups.

Another option few people are aware of is using a squat toilet. I went to India last year and, interestingly, many places do not have regular toilets but just a hole in the floor. When you use a toilet like that, your body will be in the position it was designed to be in when you’re having a bowel movement.

When you sit on a regular toilet, you lose a lot of the force that helps with elimination. Now, I’m not suggesting you cut a hole in your bathroom floor; there are other devices you can put around your toilet that will somewhat simulate that squatting position, to help you eliminate with greater ease.

Practice Good Toilet Habits
Allow your body to work naturally by using the toilet whenever you feel the urge to have a bowel movement. Go as soon as you feel the need – delaying can cause or aggravate constipation.

Don’t sit on the toilet for prolonged periods. This increases pressure on your rectum, which is exactly what you don’t want do. Limit time on the toilet to three to five minutes per sitting. If necessary, get up, walk around or otherwise distract yourself, and wait for the urge to return before returning to the toilet. You can also use a small footstool while seated on the toilet to elevate your legs and relieve pressure on swollen tissue.

Don’t strain excessively to have a bowel movement. Exert gentle pressure only, for no more than 30 seconds per attempt, focus on using your abdominal and pelvic muscles.

Use a squatting position. Hemorroids are rarely seen in countries where people squat for bodily functions. Results of a study published in the late 1980’s showed 18 out of 20 hemorrhoid patients had complete and sustained relief from pain and bleeding with use of a squat toilet.

Use Proper Cleaning and Wiping Practices
Don’t aggressively rub the area with toilet paper or other types of wipes, as this will further irritate and inflame your skin.

If possible, clean the area in a bath or shower without using soap – soap is an irritant. Make sure to rinse the area well, and gently pat dry with a soft towel. In situations where bathing isn’t possible, use a disposable moistened wipe in a slow and gentle motion.

At-Home Hemorrhoid Symptom Relief
Butcher’s broom is an herbal extract you can use if you’re struggling with Hemorroids. It has powerful anti-inflammatory and vasoconstrictor effects, and can help tighten and strengthen those veins. It’s used specifically to treat problems with veins; it helps strengthen the vein’s walls so they don’t dilate and expand when pressure is applied during a bowel movement.

Other beneficial supplements include horse chestnut, bromalin, Japanese pagoda tree extract, and aloe vera extract.

Try a sitz bath. A sitz bath involves immersing your hips and buttocks in warm water. The moist heat of the bath provides relief from symptoms and helps to heal inflamed tissue. Use warm, not hot water, and don’t add anything to it. Sit for 10 to 15 minutes at a time, as often as you like to help relieve symptoms.

Apply cold compresses or ice packs to your anal area on and off for 10 to 15 minutes at a time, up to five times per day.

Keep your anal area dry, as moisture promotes irritation, itching and infection of your skin.

Apply a coating of petroleum jelly to your anal area to soothe irritated tissue. You can also apply aloe vera gel to relieve burning, or a topical astringent like witch hazel. (Kel and I would discourage petroleum and encourage aloe instead). After bowel movements, wipe with toilet paper, compresses or cotton moistened with witch hazel (available in the pharmacy section of most stores).

Medical Intervention
In severe cases, it is sometimes necessary for Hemorroids to be treated surgically or endoscopically. However, this should be done only as a last resort.

There are a number of techniques for medical hemorrhoid treatment, including:
Rubber band ligation, in which a rubberized band is placed around the base of the hemorrhoid. The band cuts off blood flow to the hemorrhoid, causing it to die off and wither away within a few days.

Sclerotherapy, which involves the injection of a chemical solution to shrink the hemorrhoid.

Infrared coagulation (burning of the hemorrhoidal tissue).

Hemorrhoidectomy -- surgical removal of Hemorroids.

Always strive to prevent a condition like Hemorroids -- so treatment isn’t necessary. Like most painful or irritating health conditions, Hemorroids are a signal from your body to pay more attention to your diet, water consumption, physical exercise, emotional stress, or other lifestyle issues.
