I am happy to see you here and bless you and congratulate you for coming and organizing
and making this celebration so successful. The seeds of righteousness have been sown in
your hearts for you to kindle the hearts of others. I seek the general good of all people
in the world. You must do all work to perfect humanity. By saving humanity, everyone will
be saved.
Individual leaders have spread poison throughout the world. I want this poison removed.
Learn to love your religion and consider yourself a soldier of your country. Feel this
in your heart. You must work to elevate humanity and eradicate pride, jealousy and
hatred. Today humanity is in great danger and there exists no security of person or
wealth. The problem is not of one nation but of the whole universe. Unite in an
organization to achieve power by gaining the goodwill of the majority of the people
at present.
Unite in love to elevate yourselves. Each one of you must vow today to sacrifice
everything to obtain oneness with yourself. Be rid of attachment in your heart and
be ready for the sake of righteousness to jump into the flames and water of life.
Be prepared to burn your very bones, if necessary, to secure the public good and
righteousness.
Time and again you are told that idleness is like death and will destroy you. An
idle man is a burden to this earth, so each of you must work hard. Spend your time
in working. Work is life. Work is worship. A man who spends his time in idleness
is like a dead man. The time is coming when you will have to be working to be saved.
In this world, change is going on every minute. What we feel or do in this moment
will be changed in the next. The time will come where there will be big cities where
there was sea and sea where there were cities. You are intelligent and know these
things, so there is no need to tell you more about it.
Karma yoga is the highest religious practice of this time and will liberate you. The
scriptures declare that at the end of each Yuga only Karma Yoga will help you.
Lord Ram incarnated and there was a war between Ram and Ravana that took 14 days.
In Krishna's incarnation, there was war for 18 days. In this Yuga, the destruction
will come within the flicker of an eye. This destruction will be such that those
sleeping will be left sleeping, those standing will be left standing. The whole
world will be transformed like this. In this destruction everything will finish;
nothing will remain the same. You should therefore leave your attachment to the
world. Only repetition of God's name will be useful for you; otherwise it is hopeless.
God's names are more powerful than a thousand atomic and hydrogen bombs.
Help yourself by repeating the Lord's name. All of you know that God's name is the
highest thing. Why do you attach your minds to the transitory things in this world?
Why do you not spend your time in meditation and in repeating the Lord's name?
Attach yourself to God. Be brave and always walk on. There will be many mountains
to cross, but do not stop until the goal is reached. Be strong and never feel
disheartened.
Kel and I listened to a talk from Karen Armstrong on Ted.com and we totally loved her and her idea to create a Charter for Compassion for the World. Here are a few of her thoughts from the talk.
Religion has been hi-jacked.
Religion is failing
any idealism that doesnt promote understanding, fails.
Religion should be a force for harmony.
Golden Rule of Do NOT Treat Others in a Way in which You Do Not Want to be Treated must be Taught and Observed.
We must move beyond Tolerance and move toward Appreciation of Others. Religion must be a Source of Peace in the World; spreading Wisdom Everywhere.
When we dethrone ourselves from the center of our Universe and put another there, we are compassionate and observing the Golden Rule. We must not restrict compassion to your own group--we must honor all.
We seem to have a preponderance of religious illiteracy
the preference has become to be Right rather than Compassionate.
The World yearns for change. I propose a Charter for Compassion for the World.
It is so worth it to go this the below link and listen to Karen Armstrong. You will be inspired by her.

It is common knowledge that when something becomes scarce, its value goes up. This concept does not just apply to material goodstime can be an extremely valuable commodity, especially when it is in short supply. According to a new study, thinking that we have a limited amount of time remaining to participate in an activity makes us appreciate the activity that much more and motivates us to make the most of it.
Psychologist Jaime L. Kurtz from Pomona College investigated how our behavior and attitude towards an activity change when there is a limited amount of time remaining to engage in it. A group of college seniors participated in this study, which occurred 6 weeks prior to graduation. Every day for two weeks, the students were to write about their college experiences, including the activities they participated in. The experiment was designed so that some of the students were to think about graduation as a far-off event and some students were told to think about graduation as occurring very soon.
The results, reported in Psychological Science, a journal of the Association for Psychological Science, reveal that the students' behavior was influenced by how the graduation deadline was framed (that is, whether graduation was occurring shortly or in the future).
It turns out that the students who thought of graduation as occurring very soon reported participating in more college-related activities compared to the students who thought of graduation as a far-off event. Kurtz surmises that when faced with the imminent end of college, students were more motivated to take advantage of the time they had left in school and participate in as many events as possiblethe students realized it would be their last chance to engage in college-related activities.
Kurtz notes that although it may seem counterintuitive, these findings support the idea that "thinking about an experience's future ending can enhance one's present experience of it". In addition, Kurtz suggests that "focusing on the fact the experiences like these are fleeting enhances enjoyment by creating a 'now or never' type of motivation".
ORAC is the Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity of food.
ORAC provides us with a method of measuring the overall antioxidant power of foods and supplements. Antioxidants are essential to good health, especially with respect to aging and age related disorders. Scientists have learned that phytochemicals, including antioxidants, increase our resistance to disease and boost immunity. Hence the recommendation of 5-9 servings of fruits and vegetables each day.
Simply put, the higher the ORAC value of food the more antioxidant power it contains. The focus on "foods" is significant as scientists have found that antioxidants are most effective when received from a whole food.
The chart below shows the fruits and vegetables found to be highest in antioxidants. ORAC numbers shown are for 5 grams, the higher the ORAC number, the greater the amount of antioxidants in the food.
3,000 to 5,000 ORAC units per day are required
Studies show that the average person gets only about 1200 ORAC units per day from 3 servings of fruits and vegetables. However 3,000 to 5,000 ORAC units per day are required to have a significant impact on plasma and tissue antioxidant capacity. Scientists have determined that whole plant foods high in antioxidants are more effective for good health than isolated antioxidant supplements.

Dark honey--82
Kale--89
Blackberries--102
Raisins--142
Prunes--289
Dark chocolate 656
The chart above shows a typical ORAC value for foods, for 5 gram servings.
Most people take small portions of veggies and fruit, often no more than half a cup which is about 1.75 ounces (50 grams).
To get the ORAC number for a 1.75 ounce (50 gram) serving for a vegetable or fruit shown in the chart above, simply multiply by 10. For example, 1.75 ounces of carrots has an ORAC value of about 10x10= 100. 1.75oz of broccoli has an ORAC value of 10x45=450. 1.75oz of Blueberries (about 3/8 cup) would provide 1020 ORAC units. The key here is "daily" intake.
ORAC, FREE RADICALS & ANTIOXIDANTS, WHAT'S the BIG DEAL?
Background - For over 20 years scientists have demonstrated a probable link between various chronic diseases, such as cancer, Alzheimer's disease, rheumatoid arthritis, cardiovascular disease, cataracts, age-related macular degeneration and the actual aging process itself - to free radical damage. Antioxidants, on the other hand, are chemical compounds that have been shown to prevent, stop, or reduce oxidative damage.
What is an antioxidant? - An antioxidant is any substance that reduces oxidative damage (due to oxygen) such as that caused by free radicals. There are hundreds of different antioxidant compounds that include various vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes and phytochemical antioxidants. Since scientists don't know every antioxidant in a plant, a test was developed that indicates the total antioxidant potential.

"We live in an age of unprecedented disinformation, misinformation, and outright lying by those in power. --Eric Schlosser, author of Fast Food Nation
Science never attains the truth, only better and better approximations to the truth. The situation is complicated in public health by scientists' inability to conduct controlled experiments: it is immoral to subject patients to a potentially crippling disease. So scientists are forced to make educated (?) guesses, from Stephen R. Laniel
"They profit by helping corporations minimize public health and environmental protection and fight claims of injury and illness. In field after field, year after year, this same handful of individuals and companies comes up again and again... They have on their payrolls (or can bring in on a moment's notice) toxicologists, epidemiologists, biostatisticians, risk assessors, and any other professionally trained, media-savvy experts deemed necessary. They and the larger, wealthier industries for which they work go through the motions we expect of the scientific enterprise, salting the literature with their questionable reports and studies. Nevertheless, it is all a charade. The work has one overriding motivation: advocacy for the sponsor's position in civil court, the court of public opinion, and the regulatory arena [where these studies benefit their sponsors] not because they are good work that the regulatory agencies have to take seriously but because they clog the machinery and slow down the process. Public health interests are beside the point. Follow the science wherever it leads? Not quite. This is science for hire, period, and it is extremely lucrative."
